cool-eyes Contact Lenses: Articles
and Reviews
Don't
be fooled by the prices of contact lenses stated.
A number of online contact lens stores allure you into believing that they have
actually
discounted their contact lenses by $20 or so by presenting
you with 2 different
contact lenses prices
Is shopping for contact lenses
online a disadvantage because you can't touch them?
Perhaps with certain products it is, but not with shopping for
contact lenses online. Online contact lens products are quite
standardized by brand and design and even further by your particular
prescription.

your eye doctor before visiting him/her for a prescription on contact lenses?

to another practitioner or order lenses from an alternate
source.)

- What do you charge for the
examination, contact lenses,
evaluation, fitting, lens-care kit, follow-up visits, and

Lenses: Should you wear them? Find out if
you are a qualified candidate for
Focus Night & Day contact lenses.
4 steps
of contact lens care every lens wearer must know...
Wearing contact lenses is fun and convenient only if you know how to
care for them. Otherwise, you could really damage your
contact
lenses and hurt your eyes.
Disposable Contact Lenses vs. Frequent Replacement Contact Lenses: Which
one is better?
Daily wear soft lenses allow for a
somewhat lower oxygen transfer but higher water content of the lenses.
That's
what makes these daily wear soft contact lenses more comfortable.
Contact Lenses and make-up: Which one should you do first?
Nancy decided to enhance her eye color
with a pair of aqua-colored contact lenses for a date. She unknowingly had allowed the
colored contact lenses to come in contact with the powdered
foundation she had used earlier. Upon inserting her
colored contact
lenses, the
unfortunate result was almost instant—red and sore eyes!

Contact Lenses 101:
learn the basic stuff about eye contact lenses
There are 4 types of soft contact
lenses: spherical contact lenses,
astigmatism contact lenses,
presbyopia contact lenses, and
cosmetic contact lenses.
Spherical (regular) contact lenses correct
basic, less complicated vision problems like myopia
(nearsightedness) and hyperopia (farsightedness)...
Why do eye care professionals in
the U.S. seldom prescribe daily disposables for their patients
despite the numerous benefits of their design?
It has often been suggested that they avoid doing so simply to
maintain the income level of their practice as they are well aware
of the high availability and lower prices on
daily disposable contact
lenses that
are available to their patients from discount stores and the
Internet.

>> FAQs About Contact
Lenses <<
I feel my contact lenses drying out
after wearing for awhile. Is there anything I can do?
One of the reasons that causes your contact lenses to dry out is your lack
of eye blink. Have you noticed that you don't blink enough when you
wear contact lenses? Increase your blink rate to the
normal one blink every 5 or 6 seconds. You could also use eye drops that are
designed for contact lenses such as Eyemist™ by Nature's Tears® which is
available at most major drug stores.
Do I have to
clean my contact lenses?
Unless you use the daily disposable lenses, you must clean your contact
lenses before every single use. Otherwise, you are likely to end up with
infections in your eyes. The cleaning process is very important as it
removes the protein and other residues stuck to your contact lenses.
This helps prevent the risk of infection from unfriendly bacteria. All you
have to do is place them in good quality solutions (not tap water as it
contains you-know-what bacteria) and let them soak for at least 6 hours. It
only takes 2 minutes to set that up each time. Well ok, it might take 5-7
minutes if you are new to it.
How long do contact
lenses last?
It depends on the type of contact lenses. The extended wear or
frequent replacement contact lenses, can last for months if properly
cared for because they are reusable. A hint to indicate it's time to replace new extend wear or frequent replacement contact
lenses is when your eyes start feeling more
uncomfortable with the contact lenses than before. Never wear the
contact lenses longer than recommended by your doctor. On the other
hand, disposable contact lenses are not reusable. Since the
disposable contact lenses are designed for single use, don't wear them
for more than a week.
Is it safe to wear
contact lenses while working for prolonged periods in front of a
computer monitor?
In general you should give your
precious eyes a break away from your monitor every couple of hours (2 or 3)even if you have 20/20 vision.
This gives you a chance to rest your eyes by
blinking.
If you have not noticed, your eyes blink less frequently while staring
at a monitor.
It is safe to wear contacts
for long duration of time in front
of a monitor as long as you
constantly keep your contact lenses hydrated. Dehydrated contact
lenses occur due to a lack of oxygen absorption in the eyes, which triggers
irritation, discomfort, and possibly other more serious problems.
Recent contact lenses are designed to retain moisture throughout the day and
are excellent for use in this situation.
