Colored Contact Lenses

Are you someone who wants to stand out in a crowd and maybe kick your appearance up a notch but afraid you are not a candidate for colored contact lenses?

Fear no more.  With the advance in technology, colored contact lenses are now designed for people of all ages, from very young to very old.

And these colored contact lenses are available in various colors.  They are even  for people who have 20/20 vision to wear for cosmetic reasons.

The market for non-prescription colored contact lenses appeals to all ages, from the very young to the mature.  Even nonprescription colored contact lenses now come in a huge assortment of colors.

These colored lenses can enhance your existing natural eye color mildly or dramatically or even change your eye color altogether, if you so desire.  Regardless of whether you are Asian, blonde, brunette, or read-head, you can achieve the look you want with colored contact lenses.

While the lenses can be non-prescription, you will still have to see your eye doctor for proper eye measurement and fitting.  For those of you who prefer darker colors, dark blue, dark brown, and dark green are just the thing to give you the look you want.  There are a number of different color categories:

Opaque lenses - Opaque lenses possess a color ring that covers the iris while leaving a clear hole in the center to let light penetrate the pupil.  This can dramatically alter the natural color of your eyes regardless of how dark your eye color.

Enhancement tint - If you love your natural eye color, this might be something for you.  Enhancement tint lenses are translucent.  They are used to enhance your natural eye color.  They are primarily for light colored eyes as the colors in darker colored eyes are too deep for the lenses to show any effect.

Go to colored contact lenses for lighter eye colors.

Visibility tints - Visibility tints are for prescription lenses and do not alter the eye color at all.  They are slightly tinted for handling purposes so that you can remove and insert them more easily. Also, it helps you find your contact lenses more easily if they are dropped or misplaced.

Light Filtering tints - This latest development in colored contact lenses is designed mainly for use  in sports such as tennis, golf, volleyball, and baseball. Light filtering tints can enhance certain colors while fading other colors. It is thus easier to target the balls as they stand out against the background.

There are two types of colored contacts:  daily wear (disposable) and extended wear (non-disposable).  Disposable contact lenses can be conveniently replaced daily, weekly, bi-monthly, monthly or quarterly depending on the brand being given or suggested by your eye care provider.  If worn properly and correctly as instructed by your eye doctor, colored contacts can be fun, comfortable, safe, and a trendy alternative to either eyeglasses or refractive surgery.

Appearance improvement is a huge industry.   People spend literally billions of dollars every single year just to make themselves look younger, more beautiful, and sexier.  Some cosmetic procedures are very expensive and are more appropriate for the wealthy.

If you are not wealthy, don't fret.  With the appearance enhancement provided by colored contacts, you too can look attractive and trendy for a tiny fraction of the cost. colored contacts are approximately $30 for a 6-week supply.

Words of Caution:

Unlike your jeans, colored contact lenses are not to be shared with others.  Even though you are a nice, down-to-earth person who would share almost anything with your friends including colored contact lenses, don't do it.  By sharing colored contact lenses, you and your exchanging friends can transmit bacteria and other dirty things.

The color contact lens market is growing fast.  Many large contact lens manufacturers are producing a variety of new designs and colors every few months.  At present, Wesley-Jessen (acquired by CIBA Vision in 2000) is the market leader in colored contact lenses. They have produced a popular range of Freshlook ColorBlends contact lenses. In addition, you can also find a wide selection of other popular colored contact lenses such as Acuvue 2 Colors, Durasoft 2 Colorblends, CibaSoft SoftColors and many more. There are a number of online stores that carry these products.

Today, Some of the hottest brands for colored contact lenses are Acuvue, Cibasoft, Durasoft, Freshlook, and Focus Color.
